Sanwo-Olu: Construction of Badagry seaport starts June

Construction works would start on the Badagry deep seaport in June if ratification is received from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) by April, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured.

He spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting in Badagry where residents expressed their optimism and frustration about the project take-off 10 years after the idea was birthed.

He described the proposed project as a multi-level opportunity for progress and development.

The Governor also reiterated the government’s readiness to compensate residents for economic losses on buildings, ancestral lands, farms and sites.

He also expressed confidence that the deliberations would help to fashion out reasons to forge ahead with the project

According to Sanwo-Olu, the project would ensure employment and capacity building for youths and women.
